At first, I could not see the point in “blogging”. What seemed like pointless rambling to me…was basically pointless rambling. But it was also expression to the fullest extent – no limitation on what to write. Writing all for the sake of writing, which I can respect. Even though “blogging” sounds like some onomatopoeia for chewing gum (con), I began to consider the benefits of it (pros)…
- Blogging is writing, in a somewhat unorganized format, but it still counts. I love writing and blogging will allow me to write more and get practice. I do aspire to eventually have completed ideas published as a full length book but until then, this”ll do, Pig, this’ll do.
- The possibilities for blogging are endless. There is no limit to what or why. I can write about anything I want, however I want; the only strings that tie the next post to the last are the fact that somewhere along the line, it was determined that those topics interest me. I can review a movie or book with a journalistic tone, share short narratives or poems, formally dictate issues or concerns, and even tell a few antics from time to time.
- The last benefit I find to be the one that won me over. Blogging is one of the few forms of writing that can get away with being anti-climatic or unfinished. Forming ideas is natural to me, but completing them so that there is a real feeling of resolution in the end is not so natural. If I am trying to write a story and could only conjure up a few paragraphs, blogging makes it appropriate to share those paragraphs with the loose ends floating in the wind. That type of almost writing could not really work as anything else. It is not quite a story yet, it’s just got the makin’s for greatness in ‘em.
So here I am, my purpose introduced and my writing coming soon for whatever use it is to you.
